تحت رعاية الأستاذ الدكتور عصام الكردي، رئيس جامعة العلمين الدولية، والأستاذ الدكتور هشام جابر، نائب رئيس الجامعة للشئون الأكاديمية، والأستاذ الدكتور مصطفى النعناعي، عميد كلية علوم وهندسة الحاسبات، وفي إطار دعم الإبتكار والبحث العلمي وتعزيز التعاون الدولي، حقق فريق طلابي متميز إنجازًا دوليًا بحصوله على المركز الأول في مسابقة VTURCS Award (Virginia Tech Undergraduate Research in Computer Science) والتي تُنظم سنويًا بجامعة Virginia Tech بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، حيث شهدت المسابقة هذا العام مشاركة 50 فريقًا من مشاريع التخرج، وتم إختيار 3 فرق فقط من مسار Software in a Global Context، والذي يشرف عليه كل من د. محمد صيام من جامعة Virginia Tech، ويشارك من جانب جامعة العلمين الدولية د.عبدالله حسن المدرس بكلية علوم وهندسة الحاسبات، للتنافس على المراكز الأولى، وتمكن الفريق من تحقيق المركز الأول عن جدارة.
وجاء الفوز عن مشروع متميز بعنوان “Mom Village”، وهو تطبيق ذكي للهواتف المحمولة يهدف إلى دعم المرأة خلال فترتي الحمل وما بعد الولادة، من خلال المساهمة في سد فجوة الوعي الصحي للأم والطفل في مصر، وتقديم بديل رقمي لكتيب متابعة الحمل الورقي وسجل التطعيمات، مع إمكانية متابعة رحلة الحمل خطوة بخطوة، وتنظيم ومراقبة جدول تطعيمات الأطفال، إلى جانب توفير محتوى توعوي حول أساليب الولادة الآمنة وتنظيم الأسرة، بما يتماشى مع أولويات الدولة الحالية في قطاع الصحة.
وضم الفريق الطلابي من جامعة العلمين الدولية كلًا من: منة الله محمد حسني، ومنة الله أسامة، ومن جامعة الإسكندرية: علي هلالي، ومن جامعة فيرجينيا تك كلا من: أشلي بواتنج، وأرون بواتنج، ويتم توزيع الجوائز بقسم علوم الحاسب بجامعة Virginia Tech يوم الأربعاء الموافق 29 أبريل 2026.
ويُعد هذا الإنجاز دلالة واضحة على تميز طلاب جامعة العلمين الدولية وقدرتهم على العمل مع طلاب الجامعات الدولية والمنافسة في المحافل الدولية، كما يعكس جودة التعليم والتدريب العملي الذي تقدمه الجامعة في مجالات التكنولوجيا والإبتكار، ويؤكد أهمية التعاون الأكاديمي الدولي في صقل مهارات الطلاب وتوسيع آفاقهم، بما يسهم في إعداد كوادر قادرة على تقديم حلول مبتكرة للتحديات المجتمعية، ودعم توجهات الدولة نحو التحول الرقمي وتعزيز قطاع الرعاية الصحية.
Distinguished International Achievement by Computer Science and Engineering Students at Alamein International University Winning First Place in the VTURCS Competition at Virginia Tech
Under the patronage of Prof. Essam Elkordi, President of Alamein International University, Prof. Hesham Gaber, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Mustafa Elnainay, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, and within the framework of supporting innovation, scientific research, and strengthening international collaboration, a distinguished student team achieved a remarkable international milestone by securing first place in the VTURCS Award (Virginia Tech Undergraduate Research in Computer Science), which is held annually at Virginia Tech in the United States.
This year’s competition featured 50 capstone teams, with only three teams selected from the Software in a Global Context track, which is supervised by Dr. Mohamed Seyam from Virginia Tech, with participation from Alamein International University represented by Dr. Abdullah Hassan, Lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, to compete for the top positions. The team successfully secured first place with distinction.
The winning project, titled “Mom Village,” is an innovative mobile application designed to support women during pregnancy and the postpartum period. It aims to bridge the gap in maternal and child health awareness in Egypt by providing a digital alternative to the traditional paper-based pregnancy booklet and vaccination records. The application enables mothers to track their pregnancy journey step by step, monitor children’s vaccination schedules, and access educational content on safe delivery methods and family planning, aligning with current national healthcare priorities.
The student team included representatives from Alamein International University: Menna Allah Mohamed Hosny and Menna Allah Osama, from Alexandria University: Ali Helaly, and from Virginia Tech: Ashely Boateng and Aaron Boateng. The awards ceremony will take place at the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
This achievement clearly reflects the excellence of Alamein International University students and their ability to collaborate with international peers and compete on a global stage. It also highlights the quality of education and practical training provided by the university in the fields of technology and innovation, and underscores the importance of international academic collaboration in developing students’ skills and broadening their perspectives, enabling them to deliver innovative solutions to societal challenges and support the country’s direction toward digital transformation and the advancement of the healthcare sector.
